2000 years old copywriting secrets of stoics
Yesterday…
I was sitting on my bed and reading a stoic book.
And guess what?
As I was reading I surprisingly found some quotes that perfectly explain and solve many copywriting problems. Not only that… I bet if YOU apply the lessons from these quotes, you will HUGELY improve email copy too.
So, below I’ve added 3 such quotes - along with my *unsolicited* copywriting translations:
Here’s the first one:
“We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak” — Seneca
My *unsolicited* copywriting translation:
This is SOSOSOSOSO true while doing market research. Only if you stop making wrong interpretations of your readers' problems... OR even bad, start writing by assuming you already know what they want. A better approach would be to UNBAISEDLY read and listen to your readers (pain points, roadblocks, and dreams) so you can write persuasive copy that makes them excited to buy your products.
The second one:
“If you wish to be a writer, write” — by Epictetus
My (not so obvious) translation:
Obviously, if you wish to be a copywriter, write copy.
But you also have to religiously read, analyze, and apply the lessons you learn from great copywriters (and their copy) so you can cut down your learning curve, and grow faster than all YOUR copywriting peers.
Now the last one:
“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity” — again by Seneca
My honest translation (that I’m guilty of doing myself):
We SEE famous, successful people on X, youtube, instagram, and and say:
“Their life is easy.”
“They are so lucky.”
“They attract opportunities like magnets.”
But guess what we don’t see?
We don’t see their months of failures and frustrations. The years of preparation for the ONE single opportunity they have been patiently waiting for their entire life. We only see the result and brush it off saying:
“He/she is lucky”.
Well, you know what?
You can be lucky too.
If only YOU work hard and patiently prepare yourself for the right opportunity.
There you go…
The top 3 stoic quotes that can surprisingly solve your copywriting problems.
And since we are speaking of philosophers, I wanted to add:
I'm by no means a philosopher. And Seneca is way way WAY more enlightened than me in almost all areas of the human body, mind, and spirituality. But if we talk about writing copy, this is perhaps NOT true…
So if you would like to bring more sales and smackeroos by getting a hired gun to write your emails and sales pages copy, then go to 𝕏 and drop me a dm:

PS-
Oh yeah...
I initially added 5 quotes.
But this email crossed 1000 words so I had to delete the other two. And if you would like to read more of such quotes (along with my unsolicited copywriting translations), then let me know by dropping a dm in 𝕏:

Apparently, you can’t run from 𝕏 dms in my emails.
