Beating Kieran Drew in a hot debate.
I am a skeptic.
I believe testimonials can do you more harm than good.
And, I EVEN argued with great Kieran Drew (who has 200k plus followers in X) about adding testimonials to his sales page.
Of course, I didn’t argue in person. I did it in X. Under one of his posts, when Kieran said:
"You can never have too much proof"
Putting that to the test with High Impact Writing. The course is only 10 months old and we have 200+ testimonials, many case studies, and endorsements.
If you want to do content right, look no further.

My unfiltered reply?
Here it is:
Not trying to disagree with you Kieran to sound smart.
But testimonials have lost their meaning in my eyes because they are so easy to fake. Also, I never read testimonials unless it's from a person of authority in that niche/market.
That is why I think having 100 random testimonials can overkill your pitch. A better approach would be to have very few but from the top minds of the niche/market that your readers are very likely to be aware of.
Just my take on testimonials.
What do you think?

But sadly he never replied.
So, I would like to assume I won this hot keyboard debate.
Anyways:
I further need to clarify my point.
Because this argument works for BIG online entrepreneurs.
And it (definitely) doesn’t apply to the ones who are LOW under the authority ladder. For someone below the ladder having a few testimonials to show as proof is the best way to show that you can walk the walk.
This is one of the reasons why I’ve added a buncho “cool” testimonials in my g-docs.

PS-
If you are wondering about my grudge against Kieran, then let me tell you:
Kieran is legit. He ain’t a guru. And he’s one of the very, very (very) few BIG creators I enjoy consuming and learning from...
Personally, I like his humor and his unsexy OF jokes too.
