I'm not a copywriter.

Many many moons ago:

I was reading a newsletter of a talented marketer, copywriter, and professional life enjoyer who goes by the name... Great Gary Halbert.

But, when I reading, he said something that got me thinking...

This man KNEW how to market himself (personal branding) so much better than most "potato brands" you see on the internet today.

More specifically on X.

Anyways, here's what Great Gary said:

"I'm the last guy to ask for advice on how to have a successful copywriting business. I'm not in the copywriting business. I'm in the self-aggrandizement business."

This ain’t no joke.

Seriously.

Because if you visit his lowkey website, you can see hundreds of examples of self-aggrandizement.

And I believe... this is why he's so more respected, remembered, and famous in our copywriting biz, than those with better track records than him.

Such is the power of personal branding.

Because there are many folks, freelancers, and advertising companies out in the wild who wanna attract the same audience or clients as you.

Who may have the same (if not more) skills as you.

Who may EVEN have a better track record than you.

What separates you?

Can you beat all your competitors in these metrics?

You better beat them... if you don't take personal branding seriously.

One final example:

Personal branding is why the "market" ignores a book written by a shrewd scientist to choose another book on the same topic, but written by a cool celebrity (who most likely fluked his/her high school exams).

Hope this drills home the point.

You can either love it OR hate it.

But, this is the truth.

Self-aggrandizement.
