From sex education to email education

Imagine:

You're sitting in your warm little room, inside your blanket binging youtube. And as you binge videos, you find a guy who's talking about "sex education".

Interesting topic, right?

So you binge his full video. It was enlightening too. And, as you are about the finish he suggests you - join his email list where he busts daily "sex education" tips that will better your sexual life for good.

Fair Deal.

You check out the description. Go to his website. And drop your dirty email down.

And thereof:

He starts busting daily emails in your inbox.

But unlike anything he promised. His emails are blatant send sales pitch, over sales pitch, over sales pitch.

No value. Only pitch.

This makes you feel betrayed.

And now you wanna get off his list to end your pain.

But unusually that tabboo link to leave the list is nowhere to be found. You look for it everywhere. At the bottom of the page. Top of the page. Everywhere. But it's hidden. And you can't find it.

And this makes you more betrayed so you decide to…

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Times Out.

In a nutshell, this is the story of most emailers.

They know their content sucks. It's not worth reading. They know the reader (on the other side of the screen) is annoyed by their sales pitch. So to prevent them from leaving by hide the unsubscribe link in places where readers could never find.

Smart move.

But this game of hide and seek has only one outcome:

Press the three dots and hit the spam option.

And, you know what?

Since, you're probably sending your emails from your main domain email. If good number of readers mark you as spam, then your ISP will block your email domain.

(good luck with making 10k once that happens).

My point?

Don’t hide your unsubscribe links.

Lesson ends.

Pitch begins.
